220-601 CompTIA A+ Essentials exam 2006 edition is a mandatory exam for CompTIA A+ certification. It’s an hour and a half exam which contains 100 questions. The passing score of the exam is 675 on a scale of 100-900. The exam is now available in English, German, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and Arabic.

 

220-601 belongs to the 2006 edition – the old version of CompTIA A+ certification. The English version of this edition will retire in the U.S., Canada and South Africa on February 28, 2010 while in other region on August 31, 2010.

 

For candidate who aims at CompTIA A+ certification, there are two choices: one is the 2006 edition, the other is 2009 edition. For 2006 edition, despite of 220-601 essentials exam, candidate ahs to choose one of the exams in the following three paths: IT Technician, Remote Support Technician, or Depot Technician with separate exam code 220-602, 220-603, 220-604. For 2009 edition, candidate should take and pass Essentials exam plus Practical Application with separate exam code of 220-701 and 220-702.
