640-822, Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Part 1, is associated with CCENT and CCNA. The exam is a 90 minutes exam which contains 40-50 questions. The exam is available in English, Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, Russian, Korean, French, and Portuguese. Candidates can register the exam in Pearson VUE.
 
The topics required by the exam are:
a) networking fundamentals; connecting to a WAN;
b) basic security and wireless concepts;
c) routing and switching fundamentals;
d) the TCP/IP and OSI models;
e) IP addressing; WAN technologies;
f) operating and configuring IOS devices;
g) configuring RIPv2, static and default routing; implementing NAT and DHCP;
h) configuring simple networks.
 
For CCENT certification, only 640-822 exam is the required exam. While for CCNA certification, two paths are available for candidates: one is take and pass 640-802 exam, the other is take and pass 640-822 ICND1 and 640-816 ICND2.
