Two certifications are contained in IBM System z catalogue: IBM Certified Specialist – System z Technical Support V3 and IBM Certified Specialist – System z Sales V3.

 

For these two certifications, candidates should take and pass test 000-Z01: IBM System z Entry Level for z/OS System Programmer Mastery Test which test candidates’ entry level knowledge and skills. The mastery test Z01 is a one hour and a half exam which contains 64 questions. The required passing score is 66% or 73%. The objectives of the exam are:

 1). Introduction to z/OS and the mainframe environment

 2). Application Programming on z/OS

 3). Online Workloads for z/OS

 4). System Programming on z/OS

 

IBM Certified Specialist – System z Technical Support V3 certification validate candidates’ capability in designing and implementing System z solutions. It’s recommended that candidates who pursue this certification should have 3-5 years experience in supporting IBM System z solutions

 

The certification requires one test – test 000-428 which is a 75 minutes exam. At least 46 questions are included in the test and candidates should get a score of at least 68%. The test is now available in both English and Japanese. The objectives requires are:

 1). Evaluate and establish customer environment and plans

 2). Apply information/installation planning/migration considerations

 3). Installation and post install support

 

As to another certification: IBM Certified Specialist – System z Sales V3, it validates candidates’ skills in designing and selling System z solutions. It’s recommended that candidates should have at least two years experience in selling System z servers. The certification requires one test – 000-427 which is a 75 minutes exam. It contains 47 questions and a passing score of 68% should be reached. As the former test, 000-427 is also available in English and Japanese. The objectives of the test are:

 1). Gather customer requirements

 2). Develop business solution

 3). Value proposition

 4). Competition
